Your tasks

The successful candidate will perform lab and field experiments or literature research on aquatic-terrestrial-atmospheric ecosystem coupling processes in relation to plant diversity including trait and stoichiometric analyses. To meet these objectives, the successful candidate will:

  • Conduct Literature research
  • Perform lab and field work experiments, involving organization of lab and field campaigns, regular sampling
  • Acquire third-party funding
  • Publish research findings at conferences and peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as preparation of public outreach
  • Cooperate with partners of different scientific disciplines and work in a team with different expertise and background
  • Participate in teaching activities

Your profile

  • A good to very good university degree (Master, Diploma) including biology, ecology, chemistry or mathematics and completed PhD in one of these fields
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g. R)
  • English language proficiency (CEFR level C1 or higher)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to cooperate closely with other researchers from different disciplines
  • Excellent team work capabilities in a multidisciplinary, international team
  • Experience in publishing and presenting research findings in peer-reviewed journals and at scientific conferences
  • The following experiences are beneficial but not mandatory:
  • Experience with flow cytometric data and stoichiometric chemical data as well as the Central European flora
  • Some knowledge of German is helpful for navigating life in Germany but not required for the job
